Bancroft Memorial Library Newsletter
February 2008
From the Library:
What's New?
Blogs for the Library!
Have you heard the news? We have just set up a blog for the library!
It's true! Now you can check to see if anything is coming up at anytime, and even leave your own comments!
Although users currently do not have the ability to post their own blogs, you are still encouraged to leave comments with us, or even join the blog community! We'd love your support and opinion, so check back often and tell your friends and family!
From the Director's Desk!
Wireless at Last!
This month has been very exciting for the Bancroft Memorial Library as we FINALLY had our wireless Internet access installed. If you have a laptop with a wireless card, you will be able to connect at the Bancroft Memorial Library. It’s pretty simple really. Turn on your laptop and your wireless connection. You should have a message pop up on your screen that you are connected to the Bancroft Memorial Library. You will have to agree to the Internet Policy in order to continue but it’s a good idea to read through it, at least the first time!
Our wireless connection is available on all levels of the library and provides us with 10 connections for each of our two access points. This is a far greater number of internet connections than we would be able to provide if we had to have desktop PCs and space for all of them. Let us know if you use it and how you like it.
Technology and our Patrons...
Our second event this month is the new BLOG on our website. This is thanks to our high school Intern, Paul Scott Washburn, who researched and explored developing blogs. This is another method for us to communicate with our patrons and keep them informed of what is happening at the library. If you want to respond to any of our comments you will have to register. However, we’ll be happy to hear from you with comments, criticisms and, of course, praise.
The next thing for us to explore is “Forums”. These can be developed to address particular issues, such as Book Discussions, Children’s Programs, Friends of the Hopedale Library events, etc. These new technologies are challenging us to learn more and make them accessible to our patrons. We are very interested to hear what you think of these “high” tech devices.
~Merrily Sparling, Library Director
From the Intern:
Okay, I'll admit, I've been a bad dubey this month on producing stuff. I've been working on rough concept sketches for a game I want to make, and I've also been trying to teach myself some fancy stuffs in Flash.
So sadly, nothing really new has come out this month...just one panel of "The Library Trip."
I'll have something for you next month.
This month's release:
Although, I'm sure this can all be made up thanks to the blog...
~Paul S. Washburn

However, due to so many books, the library cannot accept any donations to this sale until further notice...
