From the Director’s Desk:
Welcome to the Bancroft Memorial Library’s new “newsletter”.  Thanks to the talents of our high school intern, Paul Scott Washburn, we will be sending the newsletter via email to those who are interested.  Tell your family, friends and neighbors to let us know if they would like to receive the monthly update.

Have you tried the new “Playaways?”
I will be sharing information with you about what’s new at the library or even what’s old at the library that you may not know exists.  This month, for instance, I want to tell you about a new technology that is available for you to borrow.  “Playaways” are the latest way to listen to a book without having a CD player or tape player.  The Playaways come in a plastic box about the size of a video tape; however, looks can be deceiving.  When you open the box (they are hard to open sometimes), you will see an item about the size of a deck of cards resting in foam and an extra “AAA” battery.  The title of the book is on the cover and on the reverse side are the operating controls.  With your own earbuds or headphones, you can listen to an entire unabridged book from this one little device.  Earbuds can be purchased at the library for $1 and kept for future use, or you can use your own headphones.  We ask that you replace the battery before you return the item to the library.  Currently we have about one dozen Playaways with some the most popular and newest titles.  There are also a couple titles in the Children’s room to help with required reading list titles.  Playaways can be checked out for 3 weeks.  Try them out; think how handy to be able to put the device in your shirt pocket to listen while you work or walk!

For Next Month...

Hi Everyone! Thank you so much for signing up for this newsletter! We all hope you enjoyed it!
I'm sorry to say, though, that we could not get any pictures into this issue. However, next month should have some, but there's a small twist. You'll have to be taken to a special page on the Hopedale Library Website to view pictures.

If you want, we will send you a link instead of the article, but we if you don't want the link, we'll still send a text based newsletter to you.

See you next month! ^_^

Don’t want us to send you this anymore? That’s okay, just send a reply saying “Don’t send,” and we’ll respect your wishes. We'll miss you, though...
