BOARD OF SELECTMEN MINUTES
JANUARY 3, 2006
Chairman Ryan convened the meeting at 7:00pm. Present: Alan Ryan Chm., Michael Collins Selectmen; Eugene Phillips Town Coordinator.
MSDV to approve minutes from meeting of November 17, 2005 and December 4, 2005 regular session.
Michael Collins commented on an article he read in the Milford Daily News on Sunday January 1, 2006 concerning Town Government and how archaic it is. He felt this article was worth reading.
A letter was received from Mr. Louis Costanza concerning his interest in serving on the Zoning Board. Mr. Ryan thinks the Board is full at this time but Mr. Costanza might be eligible for an alternate position along with another interested resident from Dutcher Street.
Mr. Ryan commented on a few pieces on correspondence one being from Comcast concerning a rate increase, and another letter from Mass Development about loans that are available for projects in Town.
MSDV to appoint Teddy R. Wagner and William A. Napper as Hopedale Substitute Call Firefighters.
MSDV to grant a Class II license to Angelo Rosati with stipulations of no more than 25 vehicles on the property and vehicles to be kept within 50 feet of the garage. There were concerns from the Police Chief and residents living on Westcott about the traffic that would be generated from this business. The residents are concerned people will be using Westcott as a road to drive by and view the vehicles then turn around. With many young children living in this neighborhood, the residents said they feel this would be dangerous. Mr. Phillips explained the field could not be used for storing cars because it is zoned residential and it would be subject to non-conforming use and subject to special permit. Mr. Rosati then went on to say he was interested in applying for a Class I license but the Selectmen
said it is not likely it would be granted. If a new business were to apply for a Class I license the Selectmen are under no obligation to go from granting a Class II license to a Class I.
Mr. Phillips informed the Board Mr. Carroll from the Finance Committee has received two quotes for the Cell Tower and will be getting back to them shortly. Mr. Phillips also told them budgets were due to him by December 31, 2005 and has received about 20% so far and has sent an email requesting the rest to be turned in by Thursday January 5, in order to have a tentative budget ready for the next Selectmen’s meeting. Copies of all budgets will be forwarded to Jim Carroll on the Finance Committee for review.
