Pink Bags - Curbside Textiles Collection

Hopedale Board of Health Announces

Free Curbside Textile Recycling Service Coming to Hopedale

Beginning on November 18th, Hopedale residents will be able to recycle unwanted textiles and small household items by bagging them and leaving them at the curb on their regular recycling collection day.  Hopedale is providing the new service in partnership with Simple Recycling.  There is no cost to residents or the town.  The town will be paid $20 per ton for the material.

In the weeks before the program’s November 18th launch date, Simple Recycling will send informational mailers to homes that receive trash and recycling collection service from the town.  The mailers will contain free Simple Recycling pink bags.

Residents can place the pink bag at the curb on their normal recycling collection day.  Simple Recycling’s trucks will pick up the pink bag and leave a new bag.

The company will accept a wide range of used textiles and small household items.  The list of accepted items includes:  all types of used or new clothing, coats, shoes, boots, sneakers, belts, ties, handbags, backpacks, hats, gloves, scarfs, towels, sheets, blankets, curtains, drapes, pillows, sleeping bags, small kitchen appliances, dishes, pots/pans, glasses, irons, radios, lamps, hairdryers, toys, pictures, tools, books, mirrors and more.  Items must be dry and in the pink bag.  If the item(s) is rejected, Simple Recycling will leave a notice why the item(s) was rejected.

When more than 1 pink bag is needed, or the pink bag is not collected by 5:00 p.m. on your regular recycling collection day, call Simple Recycling customer service.

Regular curbside recycling with E.L. Harvey & Sons will continue.

The Simple Recycling service is designed to reduce the trash tonnage for incineration and recycling tonnage, which the town must pay for, and is not meant to compete with local charities.
